Presentación del Proyecto

• Road Engineering Study at the Final Project stage of a length of approximately 21 kilometres whose aim was to make a bypass over the city of Antofagasta thus relieving congestion in the city avenues that cross from north to south.
• Antofagasta’s Eastern Bypass is a newly built stretch of road which will connect Route 28 in the south (known as La Negra access) with Pedro Aguirre Cerda Avenue in the northern end of Antofagasta. The study looked at an urban sector called Padre Hurtado Avenue which is around 4.8 km long.
• The new road is a dual carriageway between Route 28 and Padre Alberto Hurtado Avenue and then it changes to a simple road with two lanes until the southern entrance to the proposed tunnel. After leaving the north side of the tunnel the road remains simple until Irarrazaval Avenue where the dual carriageway returns up until Pedro Aguirre Cerda Avenue.
• The Detailed Engineering for the project included the following among its relevant tasks to be carried out: Dual Carriageway Road Project, Intersections Project, Overpass and Bridges Project and a 1300 metre Tunnel Project. These projects included the development of the following: Structural and Electromechanical Systems Project (ventilation, lighting, traffic management system, electrical supply and backup), Sanitation and Drainage Project, Road Safety and Traffic Diversion Project, Services Modification Project (wet and dry), Lighting Project, Landscaping and Street Furniture Project, Traffic Light Project, Level Crossing Project, Study of Expropriations, Environmental-Territorial Study, Road Branch and Citizen Participation.
