PROJECT DESCRIPTION

• The works contract consisted of the construction of the Viluco bridge and its access points. The aim of these works was to give continuity to Route G-520 starting at the 5,800 dm point, where the existing paving ended, up to 7,201 dm, thus connecting Route G-250 through a simple intersection with Route G-546. The total length of the project is 1,401m and it goes through the Buin and Paine districts, joining the Viluco sector with the El Vinculo sector, at roughly kilometre 6 of the Champa-Range road. • For the Project construction, the paving, preparation of the work area, earthworks, granular base layers, resurfacing, structures and related works, draining and platform protection, control and safety elements and various works (type 2 manhole covers, galvanised iron rungs) were all taken into account.
• Additional works were also taken into consideration such as the modification of the El Vinculo RDW (Rural Drinking Water supply) and lighting along the entire length of the project.
• The bridge itself has 2 traditional abutments, each one with front elevation and a support platform for the girders on a foundation block. The bridge also has 2 girder support posts made up of an elevation wall supported on a foundation block. Under these structures, there are 32 piles, 8 for each element, each one 1.50 m in diameter and 20 m deep.
• The girders are metal, 1.85m tall and are 3 metres apart. They are distributed across three sections. Each section has 5 girders which are each 3 metres apart, spread across approximately 39.6 metres.
• The deck is made of a 21cm thick slab, a 5cm thick asphalt pavement, walkways, Jersey barriers and external pedestrian railings. It is 14.9 metre wide, distributed in the following way: two 3.5-metre-wide lanes, two 1.5-metre-wide verges, two walkways which are 2 metres wide, 2 high type F barriers with handrails measuring 0.354, 2 pedestrian railings 0.085 metres wide and PVC barbicans underneath the type F barriers.
• The service provided to the client was basically one of support for the FiscalInspection in the complete supervision during the execution of the works, both in the technical and administrative parts of the process.
