PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The wind farm is made up of 50 turbines with a total installed capacity of 170MW, equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 270,000 homes. It has an underground transmission line with a total length of 92 km at 33kV that carries the energy produced by the turbines to a step-up substation. The energy is then injected into the National Electric System via a 71km overhead power line which links the wind farm to the Maitencillo substation.
The service provided by R&Q consisted of the Technical Inspection of Works and support for the client in the construction of the ‘Sarco Wind Farm and Transmission Line’ Project in the district of Freirina in the Atacama Region. The service included the verification and control of the thorough, comprehensive and timely fulfilment of the obligations established for the EPC contractor.
